Description

The Williamsport Home is looking for a fun-loving, enthusiastic, individual to join our team as an Activities Aide. If you're often told that you're the life of the party- you may be who we're looking for!

This position is part-time (3 days per week), shifts vary between 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm and 12pm-8pm. 

Position Summary: The activity aide assists the activities director, helping residents use equipment and supplies. Activities may include arts and crafts, outdoor activities, sports, music, or games. The activity aide prepares equipment and ensures the safety of participants in the activity. The activity aide assists in leading the residents in group activities, such as an exercise class or art project. The activity aide keeps records of attendance and participation.

Duties and Responsibilities: Nursing Assistant

General: 90%

  1. Implement activity programs to meet the recreational and leisure time needs of each resident.
  2. Assists in transporting residents to and from programs.
  3. Maintains activity equipment and supplies in a clean, orderly manner.
  4. Assists in maintaining records of individual resident participation.
  5. Assists with residents outings.
  6. Prepares activity area(s) for scheduled programs and restores afterward.
  7. Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices, assuring resident safety.
  8. Adheres to, upholds and enforces all facility policies and procedures.
  9. Assists in the orientation and coordination of volunteers.

Administrative: 10%

11. Attends all department meetings, educational programs, etc., as scheduled or directed.

12. Actively participates in various quality improvement initiatives.

13. Reports any supply/equipment needs, repairs, etc. to the Activity Director.

14. Reports any defective, worn, broken, etc. equipment to the Activities Director.

15. Adheres to, upholds and enforces all regulations and recommendations of the Department of Health, the Health Care Financing Administration, the Department of Public Welfare, etc.

16. Participates on various committees and with in-service training as directed.

Miscellaneous/Other: (Exhibited 100%)

17. Assumes all other duties as assigned.

18. Maintains a professional, customer-oriented demeanor at all times.

19. Works within a team concept and is thus cooperative with co-workers and peers.

20. Maintains confidentiality of information.

21. Represents the facility in a positive manner.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

1 . Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility with a medical and physical examination.

2. Occasional sitting, lateral and low reaching , kneeling, twisting, and crouching.

3. Must be able to walk, sit for extended periods of time, bend, lift and carry with help or an assistive device 140 lb on average. Push carts/or wheeled weight .. weighing up to three hundred (300) pounds. Carry 15 lbs.

4. Required to reach, handle and manipulate equipment frequently.

5. Moves intermittently throughout the workday.

6. Works in and around all areas of the facility.

7. Is subject to frequent interruptions and must then adjust schedule accordingly.

8. Frequent standing, walking, carrying, pushing, pulling, forward reaching, bending, and arm and finger use.

9. May be subject to handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

10. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, blood and body fluids, diseases, conditions, etc.,
such as TB, AIDS, and Hepatitis B viruses.

11. May be subject to emotionally distraught residents, family members, visitors, personnel, etc.
and must possess the ability to cope with the stresses of the environment.

Qualifications


Educational and Experience Requirements:

  1. High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  2. Ability to read writes and speaks English.
  3. Ability to follow oral and written direction.
