Job Description

Responsibilities for this position would include tasks such as those listed below:
  • 40% Research project implementation support
    • Performing data entry and data management tasks, including meeting quality assurance standards of data entered
    • Preparing documents and other materials for print/online (e.g. website or Canvas training site) publication through formatting and accessibility reviews
    • Organizing project information and files
  • 40% Information dissemination support 
    • Editing and creating PowerPoint presentation files, including screening for accessibility
    • Providing support for filming, editing, and captioning videos
    • Photography support (depending on skill level/interest)
      • Taking portraits
      • Assisting with video interviews or other photo/video projects
    • Social media support (depending on skill level/interest)
      • Creating simple graphics
      • Generating ideas for fun posts
  • 20% Other duties as requested (e.g., photocopying, scanning, meeting or training preparation activities)

Required Qualifications

  1. KU undergraduate student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours each semester per academic year.
  2. 1 year of proficiency with Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel and Outlook as evidenced in application materials.
  3. Strong oral and written communication skills as evidenced in application materials and interview.
  4. Strong attention to detail as evidenced in application materials.

Advertised Salary Range

$15/hr

Preferred Qualifications

  1. One semester of experience with data entry, data management, or data reporting tasks using Excel, or similar software.
  2. Experience with creating content for presentations, webinars, or trainings.
  3. Experience with photography, video, and using social media.
  4. Passion for social justice and supporting improved outcomes for people with disabilities, as expressed and evidenced by application materials.

Position Overview

KU Center on Disabilities (KUCD) seeks a motivated undergraduate KU student with strong work ethic and superior attention to details to assist with administrative research tasks and projects in support of research studies.

Must be available to work approximately 6-10 hours per week. Flexible and remote scheduling (in state of Kansas only) is possible although Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm is preferred. 

All research activities require completion of training and strict maintenance of study participant confidentiality in accordance will all KU policies and procedures.

Position Requirements

During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions

(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
