The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Field Supervisor in the Utilities Department.

Position Duties

As a Field Supervisor, you will:

  • Develops preventative maintenance tasks in coordination with managers and other Field Supervisors
  • Performs and supervises preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery and equipment
  • Researches, orders and purchases parts and equipment for repair and inventory control
  • Maintains spare parts inventory and tool control
  • Lubricates equipment and checks for malfunctions; replaces packing in pumps or valves; replaces bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment 
  • Communicates effectively at all levels regarding recommended maintenance and repair procedures
  • Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and to prevent recurrences
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.  (This will apply only to public safety, shift workers “boots on the ground” and customer service positions; it would also apply where systems necessary to perform job are not accessible remotely—think payroll, etc.)
  • Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war.

Minimum Qualifications

Formal Education:

  • High school diploma or GED. 

Relatable Work Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of maintenance/management experience in a water treatment plant, preferred.
  • Previous work experience in a municipality is an additional asset.

Training (License and/or Certification):

  • Valid Texas Drivers License
  • Valid TCEQ Class ‘B” Surface Water Treatment Operator License, or ability to obtain within 12 months 

Other Qualifications

The citizens of Sugar Land depend on City employees before, during and after an emergency or disaster to provide or restore essential public services for the health, safety and quality of life for our community.
