The Position
The City of Maple Grove is seeking a passionate and energetic individual to serve as a cheer coach. In this role, you will help foster the individual interests and talents of participants as they develop their abilities and love for cheer. As the cheer coach you will assist in creating and managing a positive learning environment for the participants and assist in developing curriculum and teaching participates cheerleading skills in a progressive nature. - Prepares weekly lesson plans for each level of cheerleading.
- Teach proper cheer technique and safety.
- Responsible for setting up and cleaning up the program area.
- Work with children in a group setting and on an individual basis to learn specific skills.
- Maintain equipment in good working order.
- Complete attendance records, accident reports, and all other reports as requested.
- Keep up to date on new trends, techniques, and procedures in the field.
- Have a complete understanding of emergency and accident procedures.
- Respond to parent questions regarding the child's abilities.
- Coordinates efforts to ensure the City of Maple Grove is an equitable, inclusive, and respectful organization and supports the City’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Demonstrates ability to understand and respect the diversity of customers and co-workers, effectively communicating with individuals whose first language may be one other than English.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
Knowledge of:
- Cheerleading curriculum
- Cheerleading safety protocols
- Instruct youth cheerleading fundamentals
- Ability to move around easily
Minimum Qualifications
Need to have:
- At least 16 years of age or older
- Two years of cheerleading experience
Nice to have:
- Previous experience instructing cheerleading.
