Who We’re Looking For:
As a key member of the R&D team, the Electrical Engineering Manager will provide strategic and technical leadership to the Electrical Engineering team within the R&D Hardware organization. This role is responsible for managing engineering resources, fostering professional development through coaching and mentoring, and coordinating team activities to support Laborie’s new product development initiatives.
This is a hands-on leadership role with a primary focus on driving the organization’s business objectives while establishing and promoting best practices in electrical engineering and medical device development.
About the Role:
- Direct supervision and leadership of a team of Electrical Engineers. Provide coaching, mentorship, and development of best practices.
- Responsible for managing a variety of activities on new product development including design, prototyping, systems integration support, verification and validation, design for manufacture/manufacturing transfer.
- Work closely with software engineering and mechanical engineering team members to ensure proper integration of systems.
- Will have accountability for design and testing with external labs to support global medical electrical safety and EMC standards (60601 and its associated subparts).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field required.
- Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with a strong background in electrical engineering.
- Hands-on technical aptitude with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, including:
- 21 CFR 820.30 (Design Controls)
- FDA GMP
- EU MDD / EU MDR
- IEC 60601, IEC 62366
- ISO 13485
- REACH, RoHS, WEEE
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Engineering or related discipline preferred.
- Prior experience in the medical device industry strongly preferred.
- Proven leadership or management experience in an engineering environment preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training or certification is a plus.
