The Controller is a Senior-level financial professional responsible for overseeing and managing the daily accounting and financial reporting functions of the bank.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Regular onsite attendance

· Ability to work well with others in a team environment

· Provides accurate, efficient and exceptional customer service to internal and external customers

· Maintains knowledge of bank regulations, security and compliance responsibilities, confidentiality, products, policies, procedures and meets deadlines

· Satisfactorily completes all training required for the position

· Follows accepted accounting policy and procedures in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles

· Supervises accounting staff

· Assists with daily operations

· Participates in the preparation of financial statements

· Cash management

· Updates and Maintains fixed assets software

· Maintains investment accounting software

· Reviews accounts payable processing

· Reconciles the Federal Reserve Bank statement daily

· Assists in month end close responsibilities

· Prepare and/or reviews regulatory reporting including the Call Report

· Prepares reports for management

· Prepares and/or reviews reconciliations

· Posts journal entries

· Assists in month end close responsibilities

· Assists with year-end tax reporting

· Assists with annual budgeting

· Maintains the Board, Audit and ALCO electronic meeting portals

· Prepares minutes for Audit and ALCO meetings

· Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees three positions in the accounting department.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum five years’ experience preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Work duties can be somewhat complex and require judgement such as identifying problems and evaluating results.
