Position Title: Systems Engineer- SME

Location: Redstone Arsenal


Position Summary:
The Systems Engineer SME will provide expert-level technical, acquisition, and logistics support to the Integrated Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) program. The SME will serve as a trusted advisor to program leadership, leveraging specialized knowledge and extensive experience to guide engineering solutions, ensure compliance with acquisition requirements, and advance IFPC modernization goals. This position requires unique expertise not typically available under standard labor categories, with the ability to analyze complex systems, identify risk, and provide innovative, mission-focused recommendations.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical authority on systems engineering, integration, and architecture for the IFPC program.
  • Provide expert guidance on acquisition strategies, requirements development, and system design decisions in alignment with DoD and Army policies.
  • Develop and review engineering documentation, including specifications, interface control documents, test plans, and risk assessments.
  • Identify system performance gaps, interoperability issues, and engineering risks; recommend and implement corrective actions.
  • Support modeling, simulation, and analysis to evaluate system capabilities and trade-offs.
  • Provide leadership in technical reviews, milestone decisions, and requirements verification/validation.
  • Collaborate with program stakeholders, contractors, and government teams to ensure system integration and lifecycle support.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide knowledge transfer to government and contractor staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in a technical, business, or management field from an accredited institution; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution with 15+ years of defense/industrial or acquisition experience.
  • Recognized expertise in systems engineering with demonstrated success supporting Army or DoD acquisition programs.
  • Experience with integrated air and missile defense, command and control systems, or related mission areas.
  • Strong knowledge of DoD acquisition processes, systems engineering life cycle, and requirements management.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting the Integrated Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) or similar Army missile defense programs.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and digital engineering approaches.
  • Prior experience in test and evaluation, risk management, and lifecycle logistics support.
  • Exceptional communication, briefing, and technical writing skills.
