  •   Job Description: This is an exciting opportunity to join an educational team that has a history of excelling in the classroom. Lewis Cass Schools has an opening for an English Learner (EL) Instructional Assistant position that will lead all EL- related programs/activities in the school corporation, including providing language services in grades K-12, acting as TOR for EL students (if qualified), etc… depending on EL population requirements. This position is supported by a strong administration and classroom teachers trained to provide EL core instruction.
     
    Job Requirements: Qualified Candidates will:
    •  Identify and address individual student needs through modifications, interventions, and referrals.
    • Contribute to the design and implementation of student IEPs/ILP’s.
    •  Develop and implement effective lesson plans and use a variety of learner-appropriate instructional techniques effectively.
    •  Utilize assessment activities and monitor student progress appropriately.
    •  Manage student conduct to maintain a safe environment conducive to learning.
    •  Maintain accurate, complete, correct, and timely records of student achievement and assessment
    •  Attend Title III and DOE meetings for updates and information.
    • Act as liaison between WVEC and Lewis Cass Schools
    • Act as liaison between LCS and EL families through periodical communication and community engagement opportunities.
    • All other duties as outlined in the corporation EL guidebook.
    • Other duties assigned by Principals and/or Superintendent
     
    Job Qualifications:
    • Hold or be eligible to hold a valid Indiana teacher’s license (preferred)
    • Licensed in ENL, ESL, EL, or other area that would meet the requirements to be an EL TOR (preferred)
    • Demonstrate strong instructional skills and classroom management
    • Experience with integrating technology in a 1:1 classroom
     
    Language Skills          
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, policies, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond (impromptu or planned) to questions from groups of certified and support staff, students, and the general public. The English language required, Spanish language preferred.
     
    Mathematical Skills   
    Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
     
    Reasoning Ability      
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
     
    Computer Skills         
    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Database software; Instructional software; Internet browsing software; Inventory software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software, and Word/Google Processing software.

    Terms of Employment: 185 days.   Pay will be dependent upon experience.
