Time Commitment/Hours: 2 evenings during week (Monday-Friday) from 7:45 pm - 11:30 pm and every other weekend (Friday and Saturday) from 7:45 pm - 12:00 am from September 1 - May 31 (there are 20 weekends from 9/1-5/31 this academic year - this is counting all the time not taking into consideration the breaks)
Compensation/Benefits: $8,000 annual stipend, housing including utilities, meals while school is in session.
Job Purpose:
A vital role supporting students and the overall school community to ensure the smooth functioning of the school’s residential life program. This role is central to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive living environment for our students.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Live in the residence hall during the academic year.
- Be available for evening shifts during the week (7:45pm-11:30 pm) and 2 weekends per month (7:45pm-12:00 am).
- Build a positive and inclusive dormitory culture.
- Perform safety and wellness checks including rounds, lights out and room checks.
- Provide first aid or facilitate medical care in coordination with the SOC and health center.
- Uphold and enforce dorm rules and routines.
- Manage administrative tasks while on duty (attendance, forms, etc.).
- Supervise and support student events, activities and outings while on duty.
- Occasionally drive students for scheduled activities and/or emergencies.
- Adhere to all School policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Continually meet or exceed Pomfret School’s Standards of Behavior, Character, and Engagement
- Perform other duties as assigned
Work Conditions:
- Requires walking, standing, reaching, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs
- Majority of duties are performed indoors
- Some responsibilities will require being outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required but will consider current college students with anticipated graduation date of 2027 or sooner.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain Endorsement A to drive students.
- Experience with or interest in residential life, education or student mentorship.
- Ability to pass federal background check, fingerprinting and screening required.
