Job Summary
The Dental Manager supervises, coordinates and evaluates the activities of dental patient support staff and dental clinical support staff and carries out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. This position’s responsibilities will include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining and terminating employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential Functions
- Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures such as typing, bookkeeping, flow of correspondence, filing, requisition of supplies and other clerical duties
- Assists in implementation and carrying out policies and procedures for documenting storing and retrieving information and or processing medical and legal documents, insurance data, and correspondence requests, in conformance with federal, state and local statutes and CHCCW policies
- Ensures the dental clinic is maintained in an orderly manner
- Evaluates clinic production and revised procedures in accordance with CHCCW policies to improve efficiency of workflow
- Provides financial oversight, including creation and management of department budget.
- Monitors revenue and expenses
- Prepares various reports for senior management staff
- Attends meetings as assigned by the Director of Operations (DOO)
- Coordinates, develops, and trains duties of clerical staff, examines work for accuracy neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures, which include, but not limited to, efficiently scheduling appointments, properly registering patients, maintaining accurate account/chart documentation, completing insurance verifications/eligibility, collecting and posting patient payments based on patient insurance and/or sliding fee scale, performing other secretarial tasks and data entry as required.
- Maintains a positive staff relations environment and helps resolve grievances that may arise
- Works with the Revenue Cycle Team to ensure accurate billing and coding, provide patient discounts, manage payment plans, update fee schedules, update CDT codes, and resolve account issues with patients.
- Dispenses advice, guidance and direction to carry out administrative strategic plans and procedures, consistent with CHCCW policies
- Maintains inventories of medical supplies, office supplies and other materials, and approves orders to be delivered to administration
- Assists with scheduling appointments, accepts payments from patients, keeps x-ray and other medical records, performs secretarial tasks and completes insurance forms as needed, performs data entry as required
- Interviews patients regarding insurance and account issues, records information for patients’ charts, and in general, maintains an open dialogue with the community at large
- May perform or assist subordinates in performing other routine management duties as may be required
- Performs other duties as assigned by the DOO

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- The Dental Manager requires experience in a lead position within a dental clinic
- The Dental Manager must demonstrate knowledge applicable to understanding both front desk duties and clinical treatment planning

This job frequently requires driving and/or flying, sitting, handling papers, operating computers and other office equipment. Communication skills must be effective in both writing and oral in order to communicate with colleagues, staff and the public.
- Work is performed in a typical medical clinic and business office environment. Some travel by automobile may be required, as well as possible short-term assignment to other clinic sites, including possible air travel and overnight stays.
