PROCUREMENT LEADER 


Reports to: Director of Procurement


FLSA Status: Exempt


The primary role of the Procurement Leader is to lead purchasing efforts for the entire company while embracing an ‘ownership thinking’ approach to doing business and performing under limited guidance and tight deadlines. This individual will source and maintain vendor relationships, manage pricing and contract negotiations, and monitor demand forecasts and market research. Procurement needs to do proactively support customer needs by ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of quality products, which means procuring the right products, in the right quantities, at the right times, and at the right price! 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •   Source and maintain vendors using an approval/qualification process in order to meet the quality requirements of PFSbrands.
  •   Lead and execute competitive bidding processes for all commodities, aiming to achieve cost reduction year-over-year and securing favorable pricing contracts that align with company growth objectives.
  •   Identify and approve vendors.
  •   Develop and execute annual contracts to meet company’s current and future requirements.
  •   Conduct regular vendor performance reviews to ensure best quality and value.
  •   Conducts reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  •   Communicate proactively between sales, warehouse, logistics, and suppliers to ensure clear understanding and scheduling requirements.
  •   Resolve grievances and claims against vendors regarding damages and quality issues.
  •   Assist in the sourcing and procurement of all new products.
  •   Support operational objectives through improved products and vendor resources.
  •   Maintain proper inventory levels based on usage.
  •   Monitor product forecasts, market trends, and suppliers to determine future prices and availability.
  •   Prepare and analyze product forecasts to vendors on a quarterly, semi-annual, and/or annual basis.
  • Set up and maintain all new items. 
  •   Focus on achieving company goals, embracing the company’s mission and vision statement and live according to our core values.
  • Identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with procurement, such as supply chain disruptions or quality control issues
  •   Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to work with a sense of urgency and effectively manage a schedule with tight deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment 
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to gain respect and commit to a support role for the sales teams and our customers
  • Excellent analytical skills; possesses thinking-outside-the-box capabilities
  • Strong work ethic, always making the company and the customer a priority
  • Sales oriented: always focused on customer needs first!
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all types of people from owners to hourly employees for business results
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Organization of business materials: internal, customer, and project files
  • A positive attitude!
  • Persistent in nature; follow-up is a must!
  • Experience in CRM, AutoQuotes and inventory control software such as NetSuite a plus
  • Technological skill sets to include use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other software as required

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is typically performed in normal office working conditions.
  • Job requires occasional overnight travel.
