Supports Legal/Regulatory Department in Cleveland, Ohio. Has shared responsibility for assisting with a variety of legal, regulatory and compliance matters. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust’s mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.
Responsibilities:Responsibilities:
- Supports attorneys with: a) handling regulatory examinations (e.g., financial and market conduct exams); b) preparing, submitting, and managing UCAA filings (e.g., insurance carrier licensing applications); and c) preparing and submitting NAIC biographical affidavits.
- Prepares and submits routine regulatory filings; corresponds with state Departments of Insurance or other regulatory agencies.
- Assists team with processing Consumer Complaints pursuant to internally developed policies.
- Provides limited administrative tasks necessary to support UCAA filings and regulatory examinations (e.g., distributing documents, preparing regular and overnight mail, maintaining hard copy and electronic files, and tracking project in a matter management system).
- Assists team with monitoring regulatory update tracking and ensuring timely compliance with all regulatory updates.
- Maintains knowledge of trends in the industry and familiarity with legal requirements and guidelines.
- Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time, including, but not limited to, assisting with projects within or outside the Legal Department, covering for an absent co-worker and training employees.
- Keeps current with market trends and demands.
- Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or Paralegal certification
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, CoPilot) and other software products typically used in a Legal/Regulatory/Compliance department (e.g., a matter management system, a regulatory/legislative changes tracking product)
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
- Ability to professionally interact with people at all levels of the corporate structure in-person, by phone or video, and in writing
- Quick learner with a strong desire to take on additional responsibilities and stretch outside his/her comfort zone
- Good writer capable of handling different formats and styles (e.g., e-mail; cover letter; business plans)
- Self-motivated team player with the proven ability to prioritize and handle numerous competing demands in a high-volume, fast-paced working environment, frequently under urgent deadlines
- Builds strong relationships with fellow team members and collaborates effectively
- Ability to handle confidential information sensitively and discreetly
Preferred:
- J.D. from accredited law school or minimum of five years of corporate paralegal/administrative and/or insurance regulatory experience
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance issues and state insurance law
