Overview
The Pathologists’ Coordinator will facilitate care coordination for pathology patients, serve as a liaison between pathologists and the clinical care team, and support seamless transitions from diagnosis to treatment. This role includes organizing and reporting data related to quality of anatomic pathology testing, compliance, and operational processes.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with pathologists, histology, and cytology leaders and staff to coordinate operations across hospital sites.
  • Identify and implement IT/technology changes to improve workflow and efficiency.
  • Act as Molecular Send Outs Coordinator (oncotype, BCI, etc.).
  • Assist with QA processes, including policy development, meeting scheduling, and reporting.
  • Monitor pending case logs and ensure timely pathology reporting.
  • Partner with Billing to review audits and ensure proper billing practices.
  • Manage reflex testing, biomarker tracking, and proficiency documentation.
  • Collect data for CAP and system accreditations.
  • Support digital pathology, microscope management, and Epic optimization projects.
  • Coordinate with hospitals on grant opportunities and breast cancer receptor rate reporting.
  • Direct project management initiatives and maintain positive relationships with physicians and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3+ years of anatomic pathology experience in a large hospital setting.
  • 1+ year computer experience in anatomic pathology.
  • Experience with laboratory/hospital information systems, Microsoft Word and Excel, and data analysis.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

Skills

  • Highly skilled communicator regarding pathology services.
  • Strong knowledge of software, data analysis, and report design.
  • Ability to create new processes and procedures to ensure quality.
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-sufficient, and collaborative.

Work Environment

  • Frequent repetitive motions; moderate noise level.
  • Travel between hospital sites may be required.
