Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conducts landscape and irrigation inspections which includes but is not limited to, review of approved plans, pre-construction meetings with installation contractors, soil inspections, sub-surface irrigation inspections, site visits, landscape inspections, and irrigation inspections.
  • Conducts customer assistance with sprinkler system assessments and irrigation controller programming.
  • Verifies compliance with Water Efficiency Plans through performing indoor and outdoor inspections.
  • Maintains current and accurate records of inspection results using Town forms and record keeping software. Prepares periodic reports of inspection activities and enforcement action
  • Provides support for Water Use Management Plan implementation, compliance, and enforcement, to include education, watering schedule, and water waste.
  • Provides support and assistance as a resource to the Town for landscaping and irrigation best management practices. 
  • Supports the implementation of initiatives as detailed in the Town's Water Efficiency Master Plan. 
  • Responds to inquiries for information as it pertains to our customer assistance program and water efficiency efforts.
  • Assists with the mandatory Town Registration for Landscape Professionals program.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of specific water conservation and efficiency measures, including additional rebate programs, cooperative conservation efforts with homebuilders, development of educational materials for the conservation website, and demonstration gardens.
  • Assists with the development of new water efficiency strategies.
  • Assists with the documentation and presentation of annual water conservation goals and metrics.
  • Participates in water conservation efforts with other Front Range water providers through organizations like the South Metro Water Supply Authority Conservation Sub-Committee, Rocky Mountain Section of the American Water Works Association Conservation Sub-Committee, and Colorado Water Wise.
  • Performs inspections as assigned through Castle Rock Water to support the meter services, stormwater, and code enforcement programs. 
  • This position is part of the Town’s snow removal program. Will have scheduled on-call responsibilities through the winter months to remove snow using a 4-wheel drive pickup and/or heavy equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent

Experience: Two (2) years previous work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Licenses or Certifications Required: 

  • Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL) certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Irrigation Association Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA) certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Working knowledge of water conversation methods and principles.
  • Working knowledge of landscape and irrigation best management practices.
  • Knowledge of Town policies and procedures related to water conservation.
  • Ability to develop effective program and educational materials.
  • Ability to understand verbal information and instruction.
  • Ability to read and understand written materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively present conservation and efficiency messaging to large groups.
  • Ability to effectively read, interpret and analyze complex data and information.
  • Ability to provide guidance, assistance, and interpretation to others on application of procedures and standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret landscape and irrigation plans.
  • Ability to physically access all work sites to perform duties.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with others.

Physical Demands: 

  • Sedentary work for long periods of time
  • Occasional lift and carry, push and/or pull 50 pounds or less.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
  • Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment
  • Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information

 

Work Environment:

  •  Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment
  • Occasional Work outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions

 

Equipment Used: 

  • Uses general modern office equipment, to include, keyboard, 10-key adding machines, and telephones 
  • This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment

 

Must satisfactorily complete a driving record check and criminal background check prior to commencing employment.
