Job Summary:
The EHR Clinical Support Specialist helps providers and staff use the Electronic Health Record (EHR) effectively to support patient care and data collection. The role focuses on assisting staff with day-to-day challenges, improving workflows, providing training, and coordinating with leadership and the EHR vendor when system changes are needed. This position serves as a key support resource to ensure the EHR is user-friendly, reliable, and aligned with quality care goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Support & Training
Serve as a resource for staff needing help with EHR processes or functions.
Provide one-on-one and group training on EHR use, new features, and workflow changes.
Develop easy-to-use reference materials and guides to support staff.
Conduct basic needs assessments and gather feedback to improve staff proficiency.
Workflow Improvement
Work with providers and managers to identify workflow challenges and recommend improvements.
Assist in standardizing processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and quality of care.
Help staff adapt to new features or updates within the EHR.
System Support & Communication
Troubleshoot basic EHR issues and escalate more complex problems to IT or the vendor as needed.
Validate system updates with staff after patches or upgrades.
Keep staff informed of new modules, updates, or best practices that improve daily use.
Collaboration
Partner with department leaders to ensure EHR use supports clinical and organizational goals.
Communicate staff needs and feedback to leadership and the vendor to support continuous improvement.
Participate in quality initiatives where EHR use plays a key role.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1–3 years of healthcare experience, preferably in a role using an EHR.
- Familiarity with eClinicalWorks (eCW) strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to train and support staff with varying levels of technical comfort.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Work Environment:
Based in the health center with daily interaction across departments. The role requires strong teamwork, clear communication, and the ability to support staff in a fast-paced environment. Occasional travel may be required for training or meetings.
