Description
Wheeler Machinery is hiring a full-time Tool Room Operator at its Salt Lake City, UT location. The Tool Room Operator is responsible for providing specialty tools to service departments and ensuring all tooling is maintained in proper working condition. This position requires technical expertise and a strong focus on safety.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working on site to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Monitor the tooling inventory with the provided operating system, and ensure they are being returned in a timely manner.
- Use the provided operating system, ensure all tools are checked out / in.
- Keep barcodes up to date and legible, so the tooling can be scanned properly.
- Inspect the tooling upon their return to verify if there are any damages or missing components. Repair or replace any damaged or missing tools. This includes repairing yourself or sending out for repair if needed.
- Monitor the oil levels in both the dispensing room and the waste oil tanks. Schedule services with the appropriate vendors to fill the dispensing tanks and empty the waste tanks as needed.
- Keep the shop supplies stocked in the vending machines that aren’t supported by an outside vendor.
- Must be able to contact vendors and coordinate deliveries and services in order to keep shop supplies and oils stocked.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Basic computer skills i.e., Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel.
- Able to operate computer programs for inventory and tracking purposes and looking up tooling.
- Must be a team player and able to work with others.
- Provide services in a polite, friendly manner.
- Basic knowledge for inspecting and repairing tooling.
