Role

This role plays a critical part in helping us stand out in a competitive market by driving innovative proposition development and ensuring we maximise the value from UnderwriteMe and other relevant sources. By combining insight with creativity, this role supports the evolution of our proposition in ways that resonate with our partners.

The role will be responsible for identifying emerging trends, uncovering opportunities for optimisation, and translating data into actionable strategies that enhance our propositions and demonstrate measurable value to our clients.

This position has an element of client-facing responsibilities and directly contributes to our ability to grow and retain strategic partnerships, secure new business opportunities, and deliver on the broader Protection strategy.  

This is a collaborative, hands-on role that offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on how we engage with clients, grow our business and maximise value.

Duties

Delivering local market product/proposition development with an innovative mindset

  • Proactively identifying trends and opportunities to enhance/develop business propositions whilst managing internal and external stakeholders to shape developments, taking ideas to early-stage gates independently, with pragmatism and a ‘fail fast’ mentality
  • Utilising our knowledge of global protection markets and UnderwriteMe data to find creative solutions to challenges
  • With support from the Market Enablement team, keeping the wider Protection team abreast of market developments that are relevant to our proposition

Leading ongoing UnderwriteMe data analysis and utilisation in collaboration with Strategic Analytics and the wider Protection team

  • Taking ownership of data insights generation with respect to ongoing trends, such as shifts in mix of business and distribution for strategic clients which could impact profitability or sales volumes
  • Analysing UMe data trends to uncover actionable insights that can shape business decisions, strategies and help prioritise initiatives for growth and increased value
  • Using statistical methods and data visualisation tools to present findings clearly
  • Providing data-driven recommendations to senior management and clients

Developing strong relationships within the industry, particularly with strategic clients, to deliver on this role effectively

  • Building deep understanding of client strategies and product/proposition development plans
  • Influencing the direction of change based on insights, global expertise and product developments at UnderwriteMe

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Knowledge

  • Strong and relevant technical experience in life (re)insurance
  • Preferably a qualified actuary with relevant post qualified experience
  • Good understanding of the Australian life insurance market as well as global markets
  • Highly analytical and a creative problem solver, with strong interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets

Leadership Skills

  • Proactive and driven individual who is a self-starter and able to find a way to get things done with limited direction
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Highly collaborative individual who is comfortable with holding cross-functional or deal team members accountable
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
  • Ability to quickly cut through detail and focus on what is important, being decisive and accountable
  • An individual with a dynamic and innovative mindset who challenges the status quo

Commercial Judgement

  • Organised, driven, and deadline focused with an attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing demands and deal with non-standard and unstructured requests, at short notice
  • Motivated to take ownership of work and to seek further responsibility
