Position Overview
As the Assistant Equipment Manager at Cabot Citrus Farms, you will support the maintenance and repair of all equipment. Reporting to the Equipment Manager and working closely with Golf Course Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents, you will assist in mentoring and supervising Shop Technicians, organizing the workspace, and promoting a safety-first culture. You will help ensure that all buildings, irrigation systems, equipment, and machinery are clean and in proper working order.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily mowing unit inspection and operate reel and rotary sharpening equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance services and programs as outlined by the Equipment Manager.
- Maintain accurate part inventories and document all equipment repairs.
- Always ensure a safe, clean, and productive work environment including visual inspection of all work areas, maintenance equipment, and buildings.
- Safely and responsibly operate all department equipment.
- Display responsible environmental protection practices.
- Ensure all equipment and buildings are cleaned and inspected daily as per company standards.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the principles to safely work with, and around, gasoline and diesel engines.
- Mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to operate golf course maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Information System (WHIMIS).
- Previous mechanical experience or transferable skillset – preferred, or training available.
- Experience with the operations of grinding units – preferred, or training available.
Working Conditions
- Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
- Operate vehicles and equipment for several hours at a time in various weather conditions.
- Communicate verbally with staff members and/or customers with or without the use of two-way radios.
- Ability to spend long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, reaching, shoveling and/or raking.
- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects.
- Give and/or follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work with and around motorized equipment movement hazards, and misdirected golf balls.
