Hybrid Head Custodian II (6-8) presso Sylvan Union School District

Description of Position: With minimal supervision, the head custodian is in charge of the cleaning and operation of the buildings and grounds of a middle school. Directly Responsible To: Principal Major Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Plans and directs the work of custodians and gardeners and also does such work. 2. Opens and closes the buildings. 3. Makes minor repairs and reports the need for other repairs. 4. Rearranges furniture and sets up equipment required for special events. 5. Inspects buildings and grounds daily to see that proper safety, sanitary, and fire prevention safeguards are maintained. 6. Paints over graffiti if necessary. 7. Orders, receives, and accounts for necessary supplies and equipment. 8. Initiates and/or assists in most routine electrical and plumbing maintenance of the school's HVAC systems. 9. Inspects the work of other custodial staff and assists in evaluation of other custodians. 10. Other related work as assigned. Minimum Experience and Job Requirements: 1. Three (3) years experience as a school custodian desirable. 2. Thorough knowledge of requirements for maintaining school buildings and ground in a clean and orderly condition. 3. Ability to plan and to supervise the work of others. 4. Ability to understand and to carry out oral and written instructions. 5. Ability to operate heating and ventilating equipment. 6. Ability to do light mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repair and maintenance. Education Requirements: High school education or equivalent.
