Safety Assistant Job Description

The Safety Assistant plays a critical role in supporting a safe and compliant work environment within our tortilla manufacturing plant. This position ensures adherence to workplace safety standards, conducts routine inspections, and assists in employee training and emergency preparedness.

Key Responsibilities:

� Enforce and follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations to ensure compliance.

� Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment; identify hazards and coordinate necessary repairs or maintenance.

� Observe production areas for unsafe behavior or conditions and take corrective action when needed.

� Respond promptly to workplace incidents; provide basic first aid and support until medical personnel arrive.

� Maintain detailed records of workplace injuries, near misses, and safety observations to assist in trend analysis and prevention strategies.

� Educate and train new and existing employees in safety practices, proper equipment use, and accident prevention techniques.

� Facilitate emergency drills such as fire evacuations and lockdowns to ensure workforce preparedness.

� Collaborate closely with other safety personnel and departments to promote a culture of safety across all operations.

� Stay current with evolving safety regulations, best practices, and certifications to maintain job competency.

� Demonstrate attention to detail by recognizing small yet critical safety issues before they escalate.

� Use strong problem-solving skills to identify risks and implement practical, effective safety solutions.

Qualifications:

� OSHA 30-Hour Certification (Required)

� Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial safety role preferred

� Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members, leadership, and visitors

� Ability to work independently and across multiple shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd)

� Knowledge of safety data recording and reporting standards

� Basic first aid knowledge and emergency response readiness
