Overview

Our Mental Health Technicians support our high risk mental health patients. Our highest priority for these patients is safety and delivering a therapeutic environment.

Successful candidates will have a passion for working in behavioral health, demonstrating empathy, compassionate caring, and a high level of emotional intelligence, providing one on one support to patients.

This position is PT 24hr/week on a rotating shift. The shifts will rotate from 7a-7p, 7p-7a and include weekdays, overnights, weekends and holidays.

 

Responsibilities

As a member of an interdisciplinary team provides continuous care and supervision of patients to ensure a safe and secure environment.

  • Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists with routine patient care activities including: assisting patient with activities of daily living, obtaining clinical data (vital signs, height and weight, collecting specimens) and performing point of care.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment by keeping the hallways clear of excess equipment, emptying linen bags etc.
  • Assists visitors and answer telephones.
  • Follows and participates in patient’s plan of care.
  • Assists with the management of aggressive patients.
  • Assists in monitoring and/or care of patients who require close observation (suicidal/elopement risks, patients in restraints and/or seclusion).
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to establish goals and restrictions of privileges based on the patients behavior and level of care.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in mental health or human services related field preferred.
    • Previous experience in healthcare or mental health preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills desired with the ability to work collaboratively as member of multi-disciplinary team.
    • Complete required Workplace Violence Prevention Training within 6 months of hire.
