Description

As a Maintenance Manager at Mel-O-Cream Donuts International, you will play a crucial role in leading the maintenance department to ensure the facility operates at peak performance. You will oversee preventative maintenance, address mechanical and electrical breakdowns, manage projects within the maintenance team, and uphold safety and food safety standards. Your leadership will be key in optimizing equipment uptime, supporting operational goals, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Reliability

  • Supervise and lead the maintenance team, ensuring compliance with safety, food safety, quality, and legal requirements.
  • Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to optimize machine uptime and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Maintain and repair electrical, plumbing, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and related systems and equipment.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive measures to avoid recurring issues.
  • Manage parts inventory and procure necessary supplies to support maintenance activities.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to minimize production disruptions through effective installations, servicing, and repairs.

Facility & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee the maintenance of facility infrastructure including refrigeration systems, HVAC, utilities, grounds, lighting, sanitation systems, and structural components.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with OSHA, FDA, local codes, and food safety standards.
  • Support capital projects, facility improvements, renovations, and vendor/contractor management.

Planning, Budgeting & Performance Management

  • Develop and track departmental objectives and KPIs and regularly evaluate team performance.
  • Establish accountability for maintenance material spending and develop strategies to manage expenditures effectively.
  • Assist in maintenance budget preparation and monitor spending for cost control without compromising quality or safety.
  • Collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams to identify operational improvements and implement process enhancements.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide training and mentorship to the maintenance team to foster a safe and productive work environment.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
  • Manage time-sensitive projects and multitask effectively across competing priorities.

Requirements

Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing or related environment.
  • Experience managing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and building maintenance.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with CMMS (Fiix) software and preventive/predictive maintenance principles.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including software applications and data analysis.

Physical & Mental Requirements

  • Ability to stand and be on your feet for 8-12 hours daily; lift up to 50 pounds; perform bending, twisting, reaching, and climbing in tight or elevated spaces.
  • Visual acuity to inspect equipment in low-light or confined areas.
  • Capability to work in varied temperature and atmospheric conditions intermittently throughout the facility.
  • Effective multitasking and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
