Position: HR Generalist Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Human Resources Manager
Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to oversee benefits administration and provide backup and assistance to the Compensation Supervisor.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Process new hire benefit enrollments.
2. Assists VP of HR with the Open Enrollment process.
3. Assists VP of HR with the Performance Appraisal process.
4. Responds to employee benefit questions in a timely and accurate manner. Provide general coaching and counseling.
5. Heavy emphasis on conducting biweekly payroll.
6. Heavy emphasis working with internal/external audits.
7. Responsible for the administration of COBRA.
8. Verifies and submits for payment all monthly benefit billings.
9. Responsible for maintaining the HRB system.
10. Responsible for FMLA, STD & LTD administration including employee and management notifications.
11. Process all retiree changes and respond to questions.
12. Ensures all employees notices are made timely and accurately.
13. Leads new employee orientation.
14. Processes the 5500 for the company benefit plans.
15. Maintains the employee personnel files.
16. Handles reporting and follow-up of Worker’s Compensation Claims.
17. Provide all benefit information for 401(k) and Pension audits.
18. Responsible for the maintenance of the Wellness program.
19. Participates in the planning of company events.
20. Other duties as may be assigned by the VP of HR.
Knowledge and Skills:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field; or equivalent education and experience.
2. Prior Human Resources experience.
3. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
6. Proficiency in MSOffice
7. Ability to work comfortably in a paperless environment.
