- Perform quality work within the scope of the mission and purpose statement of Central Texas Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital.
- Work effectively and independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees.
- Commit to providing excellent high-quality care to patients and clients.
- Assist in the recovery of post-operative patients by monitoring vitals, pain levels, activity, cleanliness, and treatments.
- Prepare, verify, and explain medications for patients being discharged.
- Coordinate baths and clean-ups for patients before release.
- Monitor and respond to client messages on patient care.
- Provide general nursing care and comfort to patients in the treatment room.
- Coordinate client visits during visiting hours and provide updates on patient conditions during visits.
- Handle phone calls for clients having problems with patients at home when a doctor is unavailable.
- Perform daily post-op follow-up recalls.
- Perform computer entries, invoicing, prescriptions, etc.
- Be consistently punctual and ready to work at the start of each shift.
- Proper animal restraint.
- Administer patient treatments as ordered by a doctor in the ICU and Ward.
- Perform basic inventory and stocking duties as required.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Veterinary Technician experience is required.
- Licensure is preferred but not required.
- Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can effectively deal with them even when they are stressed, ill, or in pain.
- Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds, and work on feet most of the day.
- Excellent customer service, computer, and phone etiquette skills are required.
- Must be able to bend, stand, stoop, walk, and stand for an extended period of time.
- Required to lift up to forty (40) pounds.
- Shifts: 7:30 am - 6:00 pm
- Overtime and working at other hospital locations may be required.
