The Furniture Assembly Technician assembles chairs, bookcases, and other merchandise, by using hand, power and pneumatic tools. All assembled merchandise is inventoried and inspected to meet company standards by the Furniture Assembly Technician. This individual will also be trained and certified on powered industrial trucks (P.I.T) to pick and put away chair parts for builds and transfers. All training is provided by AFW.
Starting at $19/hour +$2/hour after training
Job Requirements
- Ability to be trained on the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Experience using hand tools.
- Ability to safely operate a company approved safety knife.
- Ability to be trained on Lock Out Tag Out (L.O.T.O) procedures and the ability to perform Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
- Ability to become certified in the operation of warehouse equipment.
Job Expectations
- Commitment to AFW’s safety policies and procedures and the ability to promote safety awareness.
- Responsible for assembling fabricated chairs and other merchandise in a production environment.
- Certifies all pieces are assembled correctly and conform to manufacturer specifications and each finished piece meets or exceeds quality control standards.
- Resolves assembly problems and communicates product discrepancies to supervisor.
- Identifying and reading reports, tickets and UPC labels.
- Hard mark and inventory assembled chairs prior to being put away.
- Operate material handling equipment to move product within the warehouse.
- Able to correctly use a hand truck.
- Able to safely handle product from 0 to 35 feet above the ground.
- Able to safely transfer the product to and from pallets.
- Inspect all power equipment and complete the Vehicle Inspection Report before the operation.
- Ability to efficiently work independently of direct supervision.
- Able to have a flexible schedule and work all shifts, holidays, and weekends.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Work as a team member by interacting and communicating with fellows in a cooperative, constructive manner.

Physical Requirements
- Requires the ability to maneuver in confined and at times congested areas.
- Requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, & bend for 8 hours or more daily.
- Requires constant use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back.
- Requires lift, lower, push and pull all sizes of merchandise up to 100 lbs. frequently and ability to handle/manipulate up to 250 lbs. frequently.
- The Furniture Assembly Technician position requires lifting, gripping, bending, kneeling, stooping and moving merchandise 8 hours or more daily.

Pay Grade: Step Program
A pre-employment drug screen and pre-employment background check must be passed upon job offer.
