Here’s What You Need
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Associate's Degree Radiologic Technology (preferred)
- NCT - Non-Certified Radiologic Technician Registered by the Texas Medical Board Upon Hire (required)
- CMA - Current Medical Assistant Certification Upon Hire (required)
- 1 year Medical Assistant experience (required)
- 6 months NCT relevant work experience (preferred)
- Orthopedic/Joint/Sports Medicine experience (strongly preferred)
- Casting/Splinting experience (strongly preferred)
- Phlebotomy (strongly preferred)
- Bilingual in English / Spanish (strongly preferred
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within field.
- Possesses a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
What You Will Do
NCT
- Prepares patients for radiologic procedures and protects patients, self and other staff from radiation hazards.
- Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients.
- Processes film and checks X-ray for clarity of image, retakes when necessary. Distributes X-ray to appropriate medical staff.
- Implements infection control procedures in the work area.
- Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis and adjusts and sets radiologic controls.
- Maintains required records including patient records, daily log books, and monthly reports.
- Performs quantity and quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules and department policies. Cleans, maintains and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs.
- Maintains radiographic supplies, film, and orders as necessary.
CMA:
- Performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
- Greets and prepares patients for the health care provider.
- Obtains and records vital signs including, but not limited to: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
- Administers ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.
- May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as well as perform routine tests such as EKGs.
- Schedules patients for diagnostic testing and follows up to ensure completion of testing.
- Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
- Communicates with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by physician.
- Prepares, cleans and sterilizes instruments and maintains equipment, disposing of contaminated items according to protocol. Keeps patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly.
- Escalates non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
- Ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
- Provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
