The Opportunity:
We are looking for a research nurse / midwife to develop and maintain the Theirworld Edinburgh Birth Cohort (TEBC). You will join a team of researchers investigating the causes and consequences of preterm birth on childhood outcomes, by leading participant recruitment and data / sample collection within a birth cohort study.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.
The role is fixed-term (01/10/25 – 31/12/26) with the possibility of extension.
The salary* for this post is UE06N: £34,610 to £42,254 per annum pro-rata if part-time.
*A market pay supplement equivalent to 7% of salary shall be payable in addition to substantive salary. Additionally, the normal incremental pay range for this post will be points 1-9 of the published scales.
It is a requirement for the postholder to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Our offer is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and a satisfactory PVG check. Once you have accepted our offer, we will write to you separately with information on this. Please note that a delay in completing your PVG application or releasing the result to the University may cause your start date of employment to be postponed.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Previous senior level experience (nursing or relevant allied health specialist) in dealing with neonates.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work unsupervised and using own initiative within the multidisciplinary environment and also as an effective communicator within a research team.
- Newborn life support.
- Time management skills and ability to prioritise workload.
