Description

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain programming to engage children and youth (Grades 3-8).
  2. Refer children and youth (Grades 3-8) for participation in suitable activities based on client needs.
  3. Provide classes in healthy living or life skills a minimum of two classes per day or ten classes per week, offering more if the demand for classes is present.
  4. Maintain cooperative working relationships with educational community, social, legal, and health service agencies. Make contact with community partners a minimum of two to six times per week.
  5. Advocate for children and youth (Grades 3-8) and work with community/support service agencies to overcome access barriers.
  6. Maintain contact with children and youth (grades 3-8) to identify additional needs or barriers to service access; to provide support and encouragement; and to monitor participant progress in reaching their goals.
  7. Maintain communication with clinical director by reading and responding to emails daily.
  8. Participate in supervision at least twice per month with clinical director.
  9. Work a flexible 40-hour week Monday through Sunday. Evening and weekend work may be required occasionally to facilitate classes.
  10. Abide by professional ethical guidelines set forth ODMHSAS, OAYS, and CARF as well as applicable federal guidelines. Refrain from documenting any inaccurate dates and/or times that services were provided. Always record what was actually provided on any and all documentation.
  11. Provide community development and/or education to the community as assigned by the clinical director.
  12. Develop and maintain agency website.
  13. Maintain agency social media account.
  14. Assist with agency community events and fundraising.
  15. Responsible for completing the required minimum number of training hours per year (24 hours/full-time; 12 hours/part-time).
  16. Other duties as required by program needs.

Competencies

  1. Demonstrates ability to provide psychoeducation in a group setting.
  2. Demonstrates ability to teach life skills to youth. 
  3. Completes documentation in a timely manner that is thorough and complete.
  4. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of community resources to provide effective referrals as part of the TSET program.
  5. Works as part of the team to arrange for comprehensive referrals to clients. 
  6. Maintains an average of 20 hours per week in direct contact with group participants, referral sources, or community partners.
  7. Understands and applies the agency policies and procedures (i.e. dress code and appearance, adherence to work schedules, completion of trainings, etc.).
  8. Punctually attends meetings and trainings. Completes assigned trainings in adequate time frames and obtains the minimum number of training hours required within the calendar year.
  9. Demonstrates dependability by consistently working scheduled shifts and following proper procedures when unable to work scheduled shifts.
  10. Displays cultural competency by valuing the fundamental rights, dignity, and self-worth of all people including respecting age, culture, disability, ethnicity, race, religion/spirituality, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, socioeconomic status, or any basis proscribed by law.
  11. Interacts with others in a professional manner and effectively navigates interpersonal differences. Maintains appropriate boundaries with supervisors, colleagues, and clients.
  12. Demonstrates the ability to consult or seek supervision regarding concerns or issues and communicates effectively with colleagues and clients.
  13. Identifies potential safety issues and takes measures to reduce risks and protect clients, staff, and themselves.

 

 

 

 

 

The Youth Engagement Program Coordinator will receive training and be evaluated based on each of the above competencies and responsibilities. Your signature indicates you have reviewed and understand the job description.

This is a full time 40-hour per week salary position classified as exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Marie Detty Youth and Family Services is an at-will employer.  Employment is by mutual consent of the company and employee and either may terminate the relationship at any time, with or without cause or advance notice.  This job is contingent upon funding; however, availability of funding is not a guarantee of continued employment, nor does it imply any specific terms of employment.

Qualifications


Requirements

  1. Must be 21 years old.
  2. Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health field of study, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study with adequate training and experience to include no less than two years of experience working with youth and families. 
  3. Ability to effectively speak in small or large-group settings.
  4. Possess adequate computer skills.
  5. Ability to communicate in writing and verbally by writing reports and business correspondence, speaking effectively with diverse populations, including school personnel, service providers, law enforcement, and parents of participants.
  6. Must have strong interpersonal skills, flexible attitude, and able to meet the demands of a busy schedule.
  7. Ability to utilize time management techniques to organize and prioritize work.
  8. Ability to be flexible and adapt to programming change.
  9. Must maintain client confidentiality.
  10. Ability to meet deadlines.
  11. Be able to provide age and culturally competent services.
  12. Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  13. Must adhere to all regulations concerning confidentiality, judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
  14. Must attend weekly case consultation and/or team meetings.
  15. Must attend statewide monthly meetings via Zoom or in person.
  16. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with a clear driving record with no more than two moving violations in the past three years.
  17. Must pass FBI background investigation.
  18. Must be able to attend mandatory trainings and monthly staff meetings as scheduled. The Youth Engagement Program Coordinator is required to become certified (within 90 days) in CPR/First Aid.
