Job Summary: Plan, guide, evaluate, and revise a comprehensive social-emotional and behavior support program with interventions and supports aligned to district guidelines; work directly with scholars including conducting individual assessments and developing/writing and implementing/monitoring individual scholar goals and objectives; serve as a team member to support MTSS; build capacity in staff to meet building and system-wide social-emotional and behavior initiatives through professional learning for individuals, departments, and/or grade levels and collaborating with and supporting staff in meeting the social-emotional and behavior goals and objectives of scholars; support and promote School Improvement Plan (SIP) for Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) goals including implementation of steps and processes; implement the goals and objectives of the District and the school and/or program for which employed; make appropriate and equitable use of resources and technologies; maintain contact and communication with guardians/caregivers of scholars, working with them in the development of their scholar; design, deliver and assess social-emotional and behavior curriculum according to district guidelines; participate in district, building, and department leadership activities; provide in-person, synchronous, and asynchronous learning when applicable; work collaboratively with others.
Responsibilities: Teach students skills in organization, communication, anger control and problem-solving. Inservice colleagues on strategies for dealing with unacceptable behavior and help them develop plans for implementing such strategies. Collaborate in the planning and delivery of staff development and training for staff and parents/guardians. Observe student behavior in classrooms. Develop an accountable management system for evaluating the success or lack of it in addressing unique population behaviors, which may include identifying a referral process, goal-setting with students in collaboration with all staff, and daily monitoring of intervention plans. Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIT)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- MN teaching license in appropriate field.
- If not currently licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 1 or 2.*
- Must have deep understanding of Positive Behavior Intervention Systems Framework; Culturally Responsive and Restorative Practices, and Trauma Informed SEL practices.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Willing to obstain certification in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI).
- Considerable skill in classroom management and organization.
- Considerable knowledge of the curriculum areas the teacher is responsible for instructing.
- Considerable knowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods and approaches, current researched best practices and strategies.
- Considerable knowledge of students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
- Considerable knowledge of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices and Social Emotional Learning Strategies for a linguistically and culturally diverse school community.
- Working knowledge of instructional technologies.
- Ability to effectively facilitate and/or participate in team meetings and caregiver meetings.
- Ability to lead staff development
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Experience working with high needs children and their supporting adults.
- Effective leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate and work well with adults and students.
