JOB DESCRIPTION: The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on building assignment and other factors determined with supervisor and/or building principal.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Providing healthcare to students and staff.
Serve as liaisons between school personnel, family, and community healthcare providers to ensure a healthy school environment.
Developing plans for student care based on assessment, interventions, and identification of outcomes, and the evaluation of care.
Serving as consultants with other school professionals, such as food service personnel, physical education teachers, coaches, and counselors.
Providing health-related education and mental health education to students and staff in both individual and group settings.
Monitoring immunizations, managing communicable diseases, and assessing the school environment as to prevent injury and ensure safety.
Overseeing infection control measures.
Actively participating in school safety plans that address school violence, bullying, and emergencies that may occur at school.
Overseeing medication administration, health care procedures, and the development of healthcare plans.
Overseeing vision, hearing, and concussion screening procedures.
Organizing staff First Aid, CPR and medication administration trainings.
Making decisions related to the delegation of healthcare tasks as directed by state laws and professional practice guidance.
Providing health advice to school educational teams, such as the Special Education team and the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) team & 504 team.
Obtains Child Care Health Consultant certificate to be the registered nurse for the licensed Preschools within the district.
Provides supportive SEL, student needs from referrals and assists with District goals for MTSS plans.
Will be a core team member on the District's Trauma Informed and Response teams.
Ongoing participation in District Mental Health PLC meetings.
Ongoing representation in District PHC team meetings, Building Wellness team meetings and building level Grass Roots team meetings.
Obtains Child Care Health Consultant certificate to be the registered nurse for the licensed Preschools within the district.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is primarily performed in a school health office setting, with frequent movement throughout the school campus and occasional off-site events.
May be exposed to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and various health-related emergencies.
Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately in crisis or emergency situations.
Required to lift, position, or assist students with physical needs; may need to bend, reach, or stand for extended periods.
Must maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA and FERPA regulations at all times.
The position may require occasional evening or weekend hours for school events, staff trainings, or health-related emergencies.
On-Call availablity is required during school hours and may occasionally extend beyond the regular workday to address urgent student health needs, provide consultation, or respond to school-related incidents.
Collaboration with district administration, community health agencies, and families is essential, and travel between school sites may occasionally be necessary.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 189 day calendar
FLSA STATUS: Exempt-Certified
