We are looking for an Accounting Lead Bookkeeper to join our growing team. 
As an Accounting Lead Bookkeeper at Nissan of Olathe, you will have the opportunity to work with other team members making a positive impact on our business and customers and community every day. 

The Accounting Lead Bookkeeper is responsible for reviewing and processing financial data for all of the dealership departments. This position will provide accurate reporting to the Office Manager and Controller. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verifies all postings to accounting which can include but not limited to AP, AR, purchases, payments, inventories, schedules and contract registrations.
  • Cross trains for other admin positions, as needed
  • Back up for cashier, as necessary for last minute time off or vacations
  • Reconciles company credit card statements and reports to corporate as directed
  • Tracks all state issued dealer plates and performs periodic physical audits
  • Reconciles monthly vehicle audits for inventory control purposes
  • Reconciles the monthly floorplan statements, posts and pays interest
  • Reconciles the CMA/CBA cash management accounts
  • Research cash sales, AR and credit card balances as needed
  • Reconcile and research sublet balances as needed
  • Analyze the CDK CCCA report for receivable items
  • Communicate with various departments on any open AR items
  • Process and research the monthly Expense Trend report in CDK
  • Rotate and purge annual files as per the records retention policy and guidelines, as directed by management team
  • Reconciles and posts the monthly FUEL statement credit accounts
  • Reviews the accuracy of deal posting by using the CAVS report in CDK, researching any differences for correction
  • Back up to the Office Manager for daily floorplan analysis and posting
  • Reconciles select accounts monthly.
  • Ensures that all manufacturer accounts including rebates, interest, protection and co-op advertising accounts are current and accurate.
  • Ensures monthly work packet is complete and accurate.
  • Assists in completion of annual review/audit.
  • Prepares tax reports, tax deposits and tax returns in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Ensures all customer and employee data is properly stored and secured.
  • Manages the payoff of vehicle floor plan and oversees all floor plan audits.
  • Compiles information and prepares reports as requested by management and/or dealer principal.

Requirements and Preferences:

  • Automotive accounting experience required.
  • CDK experience preferred and a plus!
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a busy automotive office environment required.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Understand deadlines and be able to apply the appropriate sense of urgency to all tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and comfortable in an open office setting.
