Arconic is currently in search of Metallurgical Technician to join our Tennessee Operations Team in Alcoa, Tennessee.
The successful candidate will provide a high degree of technical expertise needed to produce a quality product at a competitive cost. Based on his/her experience working with equipment, practices, customers and people, this person has responsibility for problem solving, developing and controlling quality standards, fabricating practices, and instructing and training the appropriate personnel. He/she also may assist or coordinate in the design and developments of new technical processes/equipment to provide a quality product. This position requires the ability to work weekends and off shifts.
Responsibilities
The incumbent's responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Complete on the floor quality testing as needed for the area
- Ordering and maintaining adequate spare part inventory
- System trouble shooting and repair in conjunction with supervisor and system supplier(s)
- Monitoring in plant process to ensure standard practices and special instructions are being followed, including departmental quality systems implementation and auditing
- Ensuring the traceability of all products through the assigned area(s) Problem solving, developing solutions, and implementing corrective actions for related quality concerns
- Implementing ABS principles and problem solving A3s
- Coaching of Quality and EHS related Human Performance
- Monitoring final product data for trending and process controlimprovement purposes
- Maintain and store data and records including related area quality procedures and documents needed to meet corporate, and customers’ specification requirements
- Assisting in development of APQP tools (FMEA, control plans, and reaction plans), TS16949 compliant procedures, and VPM systems.
- Working as a team with other disciplines to minimize costs, optimize product quality, and achieve plant recovery and customer return goals
- Support Tennessee Operation safety goals.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical/operational support role within a manufacturing environment
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- 4+ years of related experience
- Quality control or technical support experience for hot rolling, cold rolling, or sheet heat treatment operations
- Experience with automotive customers
- SAP system or similar systems
- Excellent computer skills including use of Microsoft Office
- Proficient with spreadsheets, including Excel
- Knowledge of ABS or Lean Manufacturing principles
- Strong problem solving and communication skills in order to communicate with all levels of the organization required
- Must be able to demonstrate multi-tasking skills and be able to work independently and with cross functional teams
