Description
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing and managing projects that support the strategic goals of the Bank. This role ensures project objectives are met on time and within budget, while maintaining alignment with stakeholder expectations, compliance requirements and customer impact. This role will play a critical role in optimizing operations, implementing new technologies and supporting the bank’s long-term growth.
Essential Job Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Works to identify inefficiencies across the Bank to improve banking processes, systems and customer experiences by identifying pain points and proposing practical solutions.
- Works with business units to define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource needs. Develops detailed project plans and manages all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Works closely with executive leadership, department heads, IT, compliance, and third-party vendors to ensure strategic initiatives align with project objectives and deliverables.
- Coordinates efforts cross functionally to ensure seamless project implementation.
- Ensures project adherence to regulatory requirements, industry best practices and internal risk policies. Proactively identifies potential project risks and develops mitigation strategies, escalating when needed.
- Develops project budgets, tracks expenditures and optimizes resource utilization.
- Leads technology-driven initiatives, including system upgrades, digital banking enhancements and cybersecurity improvements.
- Provides regular project updates to senior management, highlighting progress, challenges and risk mitigation strategies.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Project Management or related field required.
- PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project management certification a preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in project management experience with at least 3 years of experience within in a retail banking or financial services environment.
- Strong knowledge of retail banking products, operations, customer service models, bank technologies and regulatory considerations.
- Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional projects.
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Smartsheet).
- Prior core banking system experience; COCC highly preferred
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to present to senior leadership.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Physical Demands
This position is a professional, office-based position in terms of physical demand. Employees are expected to be able to operate their fingers and hands to perform functions such as typing, writing, and filing. Employees must also be able to move throughout the office with ease while also being able to sit for extended periods of time. Employees must be able to see and hear in an office setting that does include much noise going on around one’s workspace. While this job is mainly clerical, there may be instances in which employees must be able to transport up to 20 pounds.
