Job Title: Head Start Classroom Aide


Job Type: Full-time


Location: Marieb - Main Campus


We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Start Classroom Aide to join our team. As a Classroom Aide, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Start Teaching Team in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for children aged 3-5 years old.


Responsibilities:

- Assist the Head Start Teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate activities for children.

- Help to maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.

- Assist with the preparation and serving of meals and snacks.

- Provide support to children with special needs.

- Assist with the supervision of children during outdoor play and field trips.

- Maintain confidentiality of all children and families.


Requirements:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

- Experience working with young children preferred.

- DCF Mandatory 45 Hour Childcare training or the ability to obtain within one year of employment

- First Aid/CPR certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment

- Enroll and attend coursework to obtain the Florida Child Care Professional Credential within 2 years of employment (scholarships available

- Ability to work collaboratively with others.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

- Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Requirements

Demonstrate/Knowledge to:

  • ­ Provide effective and nurturing teacher-child interactions
  • ­ Plan and implement learning experiences that ensure effective curriculum implementation
  • ­ Use results of assessment to promote children’s progress described in the early learning and development standards, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners, as appropriate
  • ­ Set and maintain professional boundaries with families
  • ­ Use technology to plan, record, report and monitor education and child development services

Skill/Ability to:

  • ­ Speak, read and write English; bilingual language(s) is helpful
  • ­ Collect, analyze and utilize data to plan and monitor growth in child outcomes and school readiness
  • ­ Solve problems and make appropriate decisions
  • ­ Manage time, solve problems and make appropriate decisions in varying situations
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with fellow staff, parents, and community representatives

Physical Demands:

  • ­Lifts and/or moves up to 50 lbs.
  • ­Kneels, stoops, bends, reaches and sits on floor to attend to children’s needs
  • ­Sitting, for working at keyboard and desk, standing, driving for home and site visits
  • Moves quickly in response to active children in need of redirection to protect their and others safety
