The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will provide compassionate, high-quality care and support to patients in the Regional Drug Dependency Unit (RDDU) at the Great Plains Area facility in Winnebago, NE. This role supports the interdisciplinary care team by assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring patient status, and promoting a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused environment for individuals undergoing substance abuse treatment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care and Support
-Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
-Support patient mobility by assisting with walking, transferring, and positioning.
-Monitor patient safety and well-being, promptly reporting changes in condition to nursing staff.
-Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients in various stages of recovery.
Clinical Assistance
-Measure and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
-Assist nursing staff with specimen collection, basic wound care, and other clinical tasks as directed.
-Maintain accurate, timely documentation in patient charts and electronic health records.
Unit Support
-Ensure patient rooms and common areas are clean, safe, and organized.
-Maintain infection control standards, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
-Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
-Collaborate with nursing, behavioral health, and medical staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
Compliance and Professionalism
-Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and confidentiality policies.
-Follow facility, federal, and tribal healthcare guidelines and protocols.
-Participate in required training and professional development activities.
Qualifications
Required:
-Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, recognized by the state of Nebraska or compact state licensure eligibility.
-Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (or able to obtain before hire).
-High school diploma or equivalent.
-Ability to pass background checks and drug screening in accordance with facility and federal requirements.
Preferred:
-Previous experience working in behavioral health, addiction recovery, or similar clinical settings.
-Knowledge of cultural sensitivity practices, particularly within Native American healthcare environments.
-Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and assist patients with mobility.
-Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
-Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
