Job Description:
Buyer with Supply Chain / Procurement experience needed!
Job Summary:
As the Buyer, you will make sure our manufacturing/fabricating team has the resources they need when they need them to meet customer requirements. This means planning and procuring components and raw materials in support of material requirements planning (MRP) based on production schedules and customer needs. You will analyze MRP requirements, negotiate with suppliers, place POs, and follow up on delivery dates. This position involves closely collaborating with manufacturing, shipping/receiving, and project management to avoid any adverse production impact from supplier delivery delays.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Convert MRP requirements to purchase orders
Create and manage purchase orders and requests for quotes
Ensure on-time receipt of materials for manufacturing operations
Review any drawing exceptions with engineering team
Expedite material
Analyze, adjust, and optimize product and component inventory levels
Maintain the integrity of MRP parameters (e.g., lot/order size, lead time, safety stock, etc.)
Coordinate quality issues with suppliers and manage returns
Position may require some evening and weekend hours
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics
5+ years of experience in supply chain planning and procurement
3+ years Microsoft Excel experience
Preferred qualifications:
Prior SAP “by-design” or similar MRP planning system experience
APICS/NAPM Certification
Metal/steel fabrication background
Experience in procurement of metals
Excellent interpersonal, analytical, independent judgment and organizational skills
Strong negotiating, planning, time management and communications skills
Knowledge of metallurgical specifications
Ability to read and understand drawings and technical specifications
Ability to work effectively across multiple organizations in a fast-paced, smaller company environment
Proven track record of delivering products
