Cloquet High School is seeking a Robotics Coach for the 2025-2026 school year. DEFINITION: Under the supervision of the Cloquet High School Athletic Director, this position provides leadership, supervision, and organization for extracurricular, after-school robotics activities and performances throughout the year, in accordance with District policies and regulations.
ROBOTICS COACH/ADVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Leadership & Organization
Organize the robotics program in alignment with competition goals, practice plans, and facility usage.
Oversee all aspects of the robotics program for specific competitions, including training and instruction to help students compete at the highest standards.
Plan and manage the program budget under the direction of the Athletic Director, following all school financial policies.
Ensure prior authorization is obtained for all fundraising efforts from the Principal and/or Board as required.
Recruit students and adult mentors to grow and support the robotics program.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, administration, the media, and the broader community.
Student Training & Instruction
Apply knowledge of robotics skills, engineering techniques, and programming to help students reach their fullest potential.
Instruct students on the Engineering Design Process and guide them in designing, building, programming, and testing robots for competition.
Ensure students are thoroughly trained in the safe use of equipment and power tools.
Provide constructive feedback and maintain professionalism in student interactions.
Practice & Competition Management
Maintain appropriate practice and competition schedules in compliance with District policies and procedures.
Reserve facilities and coordinate transportation and trip logistics as needed.
Ensure proper supervision of students during practices, competitions, and trips.
Guarantee that all students have the opportunity to participate in development activities and competitions.
Safety & Conduct
Establish student safety and welfare as the highest priority.
Demonstrate proper care and injury prevention strategies for student participants.
Maintain a positive, respectful, and sportsmanlike atmosphere within the program.
Show respect for students, officials, and others, upholding the integrity and judgment of competition authorities.
Ensure the integrity of competitions and uphold the values and principles of fair play.
Student Eligibility & Discipline
Monitor and support student eligibility related to grades, attendance, and conduct in accordance with school and district standards.
Maintain consistency in enforcing all established program rules and expectations.
Use discretion when providing discipline or constructive criticism to student participants.
