POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fabrication Manager is a hands-on, floor-focused leader responsible for executing the production plan by managing day-to-day operations across all fabrication shifts. This role ensures that all fabricated parts are produced safely, on time, at high quality, and with maximum efficiency. The Fabrication Manager oversees all aspects of shop floor execution—including personnel management, workflow, equipment uptime, and adherence to lean manufacturing standards.
This role is the executional counterpart to the Operations Manager, who handles capacity planning, scheduling, and production control. Together, these roles ensure seamless alignment between plan and performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Personnel Management
• Lead, mentor, and hold accountable a team of shift leads and operators across 3 shifts
• Own staffing, cross-training, and performance management of all fabrication personnel
• Foster a safety-first, high-discipline culture with clear expectations and steady follow-through
Production Execution
• Execute daily/weekly production plans provided by Operations; manage sequencing and shop floor prioritization
• Ensure all fabrication processes—cutting, forming, welding—meet throughput, quality, and delivery targets
• Collaborate with programming, engineering, and supply chain to resolve bottlenecks or material issues
Equipment & Maintenance
• Oversee uptime and preventive maintenance for lasers, punches, press brakes, weld stations, and auxiliary equipment
• Partner with maintenance team to schedule and document all PMs and critical repairs without disrupting production flow
Process Improvement
• Identify and implement lean manufacturing and 5S practices to improve flow, reduce waste, and optimize labor
• Standardize work instructions and ensure adherence across shifts and operators
• Collaborate on implementation of new technology, equipment, or workflows
Communication & Coordination
• Serve as daily liaison between floor supervisors, operators, and the broader operations, quality, and engineering teams
QUALIFICATIONS
• 7+ years in a metal fabrication environment, with 3+ years in a leadership or floor management role
• Deep knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes including laser cutting, punching, forming, and welding
• Proven ability to lead teams in a high-volume, multi-shift manufacturing environment
• Strong troubleshooting skills and floor-level presence—steady, reliable, action-oriented
• Working knowledge of ERP systems, production reporting, and lean tools
• Strong verbal communication, coordination, and decision-making skills
