About the Role:

The Safety Associate plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and compliant working environment within the transportation and warehousing operations in Phoenix, Arizona. This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring safety protocols to minimize risks and prevent workplace accidents. The Safety Associate collaborates closely with management and employees to promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement. They conduct regular safety inspections, investigate incidents, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and company safety regulations. Ultimately, this role contributes to protecting the well-being of all personnel and maintaining operational efficiency through proactive safety management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
  • Experience in a safety-related role within transportation, warehousing, or a related industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential safety hazards.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with employees at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field.
  • Certification such as OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Safety or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Experience with safety management systems and incident investigation techniques.
  • Familiarity with transportation and warehousing operations and associated safety challenges.
  • Proficiency in using safety software and reporting tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Safety alert system and communicate with Drivers and Planners.
  • Develop plans regarding the Safety Alert and communicate to the Leaders.
  • Provide guidance to drivers and/or driver leaders regarding non-compliant Driver's Record of Duty Status (RODS).
  • Prepare and submit findings to management and apply corrective action per company policy when necessary.
  • Perform Log audits as needed.- Prepares statistical data and compiles records and reports for leadership.
  • As requested, edit E-logs, either through call, email or paper log.
  • Provide administrative support as needed (phone support, correspondence, etc).
  • Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.

The Safety Associate utilizes their knowledge of safety regulations and hazard identification daily to conduct thorough inspections and ensure compliance. Strong communication skills are essential for delivering effective safety training and collaborating with team members to foster a safety-first culture. Analytical skills are applied when investigating incidents and developing actionable recommendations to mitigate risks. Organizational skills help manage documentation, safety records, and reporting requirements efficiently. Additionally, proficiency with safety management software enhances the ability to track safety metrics and support continuous improvement efforts.
