Our Shipyard History: The facility was initially established in 1916. It was one of the original nine emergency yards funded by the U.S. Maritime Commission during WWII, becoming one of the largest employers in Southern Alabama while producing Liberty Ships and T-2 Tankers for the war effort. Over the years the shipyard has employed thousands of people, including Jimmy Buffet, his dad JD Buffet, and Hank Williams Senior. Alabama Shipyard is a fully equipped facility and a fundamental part of Mobile’s history. Our team is dedicated to upholding Mobile's longstanding tradition of first-class service on the Gulf Coast.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Interprets contractual requirements, collaborates with internal departments on contractual amendments, and negotiates contract terms and conditions with Company’s suppliers and subcontractors.
Essential job duties include:
- Prepare, review and negotiate supplier/subcontractor contracts
- Document contract negotiations and prepare final contract packages for execution
- Participate in the formulation, development, implementation, and revision of the Company’s supplier/subcontractor terms & conditions and other contract forms
- FAR/DFARS knowledge as they relate to supplier/subcontractor agreements for government projects
- Research regulation requirements and changes as related to Government project requirements
- Develop and critically review policies and procedures related to area of responsibility and ensure implementation of these policies and procedures, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
- Maintain compliance with Company policies and procedures
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Commercial and/or government contracts experience or other related areas, which result in the required knowledge, skills and abilities with at least two (2) years of relevant experience
- Paralegal degree/certification with corporate law experience
- Associates degree or high preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily demonstrate the following:
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with others
- Able to work without supervision and meet deadlines in a timely manner
- Maritime experience as a contract analyst, or in a closely related field
- Must be able to understand the technicalities, including language, of contractual agreements, and have good negotiation skills
- Proficient negotiation, analytical skills and attention to details
- Proficient in contract review and redlining
