About the Department

The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens. We are seeking a responsible and vigilant individual to serve as Security Officer (WAE). These temporary/as-needed roles support the safety and security of juvenile justice facilities by helping maintain order, prevent incidents, and promote a safe environment for youth, staff, and visitors. This position is ideal for candidates who are flexible, dependable, and passionate about public service and youth rehabilitation.
Position Duties
Minimum Qualifications: A valid Louisiana Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma

Close from a Juvenile Justice Specialist 4 or higher level position.
Supervision Exercised:
None.
Other Qualifications
Job Duties:
Monitor entrances, exits, and office grounds to prevent unauthorized access
Greet and screen visitors, ensuring compliance with security protocols
Assist staff in managing youth and family interactions in waiting areas or during appointments
Respond to emergencies or disturbances and notify appropriate personnel
Complete incident reports and maintain daily activity logs
Support staff during high-risk appointments or transitions
Position-Specific Details:
Work Location: This vacancy is located at the Hammond Regional Office in Hammond, Louisiana.Compensation: $18.00 per hour.
Appointment Type: This is a part-time/WAE position
