Cultural Education Additional Information: Show/Hide - Assume management responsibility for assigned services and activities of the cultural education division including Title III, Bilingual, Title VI, Johnson O’Malley (JOM), Indian Education Grants and parent involvement programs aligned to the district plan.
- Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for assigned programs; recommend and administer policies and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of services delivery methods and procedures; recommend, within departmental policy, appropriate services and staffing levels.
- Plan, direct, coordinate and review the work plan for all cultural education program staff; assign work activities, projects and programs; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Select, train, motivate and evaluate cultural education program personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
- Oversee and participate in development and administration of the division’s annual budget; participate in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments.
- Direct, coordinate and review plans for program services/activities; assign work projects, monitor work flow, review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures
- Develop and implement a district parent involvement plan to include a District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) and an Indian Parent Committee (IPC)
- Create instructional design to create learning objectives, develop assessments and create learning activities that meet the needs of their students and curriculum goals for an HLC teachers to cover in a school year and align to the GMCS Year at a Glance.
- Observing teachers and offering feedback, to consistently make recommendations based on their analysis of a variety of factors that affect student learning.
- Attend and present information at professional development, parent meetings, public hearings and tribal consultations.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay current with new trends and innovations in the field of multicultural education, Indian affairs and Indian education.
- Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

CULTURAL EDUCATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR

WORK HOURS: 7.5 hours per day – 37.5 hours per work week
CONTRACT LENGTH: 236 days
SALARY: Administration License: Coordinator Salary - $121,383
To assist in managing and coordinating the activities and operation of the Cultural Education Division, to assist with coordinating assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies; and to assist with providing highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director of Cultural Education.

Knowledge of:
Operational characteristics, services and activities of a school district, state, federal and supplemental programs and management department.
Oversee and participate in the management of a comprehensive school district multicultural education program. Principles and practices of supplemental program management and compliance.
Principles and practices of program development and administration. Methods and techniques of federal grant writing and administration.
Principles and practices of school district budget preparation and administration.
Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation. Pertinent federal, state, local and tribal laws, codes and regulations.
Local cultural diversities, their customs and traditions.
Local traditional Native American customs of students and families.
Ability to:
Oversee and participate in the management of a comprehensive school district supplemental education program.
Oversee, direct and coordinate the work of lower-level staff.
Participate in the development and administration of division goals, objectives and procedures. Prepare and administer large program budgets.
Prepare clear and concise administrative and financial reports.

Experience and Training Guidelines
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
Prefer four years of elementary or secondary teaching experience. One year of administration and/or lead supervisory experience is preferred. Program management experience is strongly preferred.
Education:
Equivalent to a Masters degree in education from an accredited college or university.
License or Certificate:
Possession of Education Administrator License preferred from the State of New Mexico Department of Education
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the job and access the environment for which you are hired. The following may be required: Sitting, standing, lifting, moving about the room or school, carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, physical ability to type on a keyboard terminal, and moving light furniture.
Equipment/Technology Handled: Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After hour work may be required.
All GMCS schools are eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).
All applicants must upload copies of official transcripts or evaluations of foreign transcripts from any and all accredited colleges/universities attended by you for review in order to be considered for this position.
Relocation Expenses: 300 + miles: $3,000
Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for the signing incentives, you must be a new employee who was not employed in any position or certified capacity by GMCS during the 2024-2025 school year. For the relocation incentive, you cannot have received a relocation incentive within the last two (2) years to qualify for the Relocation Incentive for SY 25-26.
Administration will provide processes and administrative clarification/decision-making for specific situations involving these incentives. This includes creating rules to support the incentives' successful implementation. The superintendent or his designee will make any final decision on implementing these incentives.
Relocation expenses for all new teachers, counselors and administrators will be paid in full on the first paycheck of the school year.
