Position Summary
UHN’s Canada Leads 100 Challenge is a bold initiative to recruit 100 world-class faculty-level scientist and postdoctoral researchers to advance medical research, drive health innovation and fuel economic growth. The recruitment process involves internal applications for program funding that are assessed by an evaluation committee for merit and alignment to program objectives.
The Project Lead will work closely with the Canada Leads evaluation committee and relevant operational teams to plan, develop, implement and manage the administration of the Canada Leads program and strategic initiatives, including application management; monitoring, reporting, and communicating program progress/results; and educational programming development. The Project Lead will work independently and as a team to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently, ensuring timeliness, rigour and alignment with UHN’s strategic vision.
Duties
- Plan, develop, implement and monitor all aspects of the administration of the Canada Leads program and other assigned projects, utilizing strong project management skills.
- Coordinate all aspects of the application and award process, including collating applications, performing administrative pre-screening, supporting reviewers, summarizing reviewer feedback and communicating results.
- Contribute to and lead the development of Canada Leads strategic projects, including educational programming and alumni tracking.
- Assist in Canada Leads monitoring and reporting, including gathering, analyzing and presenting data and feedback from program participants.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for operational teams (People & Culture, Finance, and Communications) and external partners (including partners from academia, industry, philanthropy, and UHN foundations), ensuring effective engagement and coordination.
- Serve as a key contact for Canada Leads program participants, offering support and resources throughout their engagement at UHN.
- Manage and be responsive to queries about the program through the Canada Leads communication mechanisms, including the inbox.
- Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise with key stakeholders and regularly report on program progress.
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree program (e.g. BSc, BEng, BScN) in a biomedical or health science or recognized equivalent is required.
- Graduate research experience in biomedical or health sciences is preferred, priority given to PhD.
- 2-5 years project planning, management, and implementation experience preferred.
- Experience working in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal) required.
- Strategic thinking, attention to detail, adaptability, and strong time management skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team and independently required.
- Proficient use of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.
- Experience developing and implementing educational and/or strategic initiatives is an asset.
