Job Description

The Tax Accountant III – Income Tax Compliance is responsible for assisting with federal, state, and local income and franchise tax compliance and tax accounting matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Contribute to the preparation of the consolidated federal income tax return, and responsible for preparing and filing state and local income tax returns, including preparing proper documentation for tax positions
  • Review partnership income tax returns prepared by third parties
  • Calculate annual book/tax differences (IRS Schedule M-3 information) for applicable divisions and subsidiaries to be used in the quarterly tax forecasts for tax accounting and estimated income tax payment purposes
  • Assist with federal, state, and local income tax audits as necessary, including assisting with completing information document requests and providing state tax information to auditors.
  • Research, analyze, and apply applicable tax rules to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
  • Support tax accounting team during quarterly close process as needed
  • Identify and implement process changes to improve efficiencies across income tax areas
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent degree; CPA, Master’s of Taxation, or JD a plus
  • Three to seven years of federal and state tax compliance experience
  • Strong understanding of tax accounting rules under GAAP
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Team player
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to work effectively remotely
  • Experience with tax research software (CCH Intelliconnect and/or RIA Checkpoint)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Corptax experience preferred
