Primary Function: The Student Worker position supports the overall day-to-day functioning of the Residence and Student Life Office. General duties, including, but not limited to, promoting and communicating events, file management, customer service, and miscellaneous office tasks.
Essential Functions:
Administrative Office Support
- Greet and welcome students and/or guests with excellent customer service
- Keep front desk tidy and presentable with all necessary supplies
- Receive and distribute office mail and deliveries
- Monitor and track the inventory of office supplies
- Answer general questions about BU Campus and provide directions to students and/or guests
- Support housing staff with organizing student housing files and other administrative tasks
Student Activity Support
- Promote and communicate student activities to students via word of mouth, BU App, posters, table tents, window displays, etc.
- Assist with planning and facilitating student activities including, but not limited to, New Student Orientation, BRUIN Week, and other student life programing
- Monitor and track inventory of supplies for student activities and the game room.
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications/Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of previous office experience and customer service preferred.
- Drawing and nice handwriting skills preferred.
- Basic knowledge of computer/keyboard skills, preferably Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point).
- Must have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess strong attention to detail, good organizational skills with the ability to ensure accurate work.
- Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee information.
- Ability to work independently, but as part of team concept.
Working Conditions:
- Works in a normal office environment.
- Frequent use of telephone and email.
- Frequently spends time sitting.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, walking, and other physical activity (50% or more of the time).
