Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the leading local hunger-relief organization in the state with locations in Milwaukee and Appleton. Founded in 1982 by the Rotary Club of Milwaukee, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is a local and independent member of the Feeding America network. Driven by our mission to solve hunger, we are bringing more people together around the table to collaboratively address the root causes of hunger. Together with our network partners, we serve nearly half a million food-insecure people across 35 counties in eastern Wisconsin each year.
The People Experience Assistant plays a critical role as the first point of contact for visitors, volunteers, and partners at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin (FAEW). This position supports the day-to-day operations of the organization by performing a blend of administrative, customer service, human resources and financial functions. In addition to building visitors, this role will professionally manage incoming calls, ensuring seamless connections to the right team member for exceptional service delivery. The People Experience Assistant will handle a wide range of tasks with professionalism and confidentiality, contributing to the organization’s mission of ending food insecurity solving hunger all while ensuring the seamless operation of front desk activities and fostering a welcoming environment.
Requirements
- Answer and route phone calls to appropriate staff members in various departments.
- Assist with day-to-day HR functions, including screening resumes and coordinating interviews.
- Support onboarding for new hires, preparing materials, and scheduling orientation sessions.
- Schedule HR-related meetings, interviews, and events.
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of policy updates, employee handbooks, and other materials.
- Help organize team-building activities, company meetings, and holiday events.
- Maintain and oversee the FAEW apparel inventory.
- Handle sensitive information and ensure confidentiality in all HR-related matters.
- Support employee surveys, collaboration initiatives, and follow-up actions as directed.
- Oversee the management of incoming and outgoing mail to ensure efficient distribution.
- Handle in-person monetary and food donations with care and professionalism.
- Maintain inventory and order office supplies for staff as needed.
- Assist the IT department with inventory management by identifying, labeling, and uploading inventory into the company database system to ensure accurate and up-to-date asset tracking.
- Conduct a comprehensive annual audit project verifying that all items in the system are appropriately logged and tagged.
- Acquire expert-level understanding of the company phone system to support troubleshooting and provide guidance and training to new and existing staff when needed.
- Clean and maintain common areas such as the front lobby, mailroom, and kitchen.
- Develop and maintain an organized office filing system.
- Carry out a variety of special projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
- Commitment to understanding and supporting FAEW’s mission, vision, and effective actions to end food insecurity and its causes.
- Demonstrate the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be open-minded of differing opinions and views.
- High school diploma or equivalent related experience, preferred
- One to three years of customer service and/or HR experience.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail.
- Professional presentation and phone etiquette.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proactive approach to problem-solving and strong decision-making capability.
- Team-oriented, resourceful, and capable of working independently when necessary.
