We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Project Manager to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our corporate office in San Jose. Job-related travel is required.

Position Summary:


GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Safety Specialist to provide support for one or more facilities. This role’s main function will assist in monitoring and coordinating corporate health and safety programs, including safety inspections, accident investigations, and safety training.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Participate in the development and implementation of corporate-wide safety programs such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry, fire protection, and other Cal-OSHA safety compliance programs.
  • Leads or participates in the development and implementation of safety training, including presentation, quizzes, and reference materials, and tracking training completions.
  • Develops training requirements and conducts fleet and facility training as requested. 
  • Participates in and may lead, development of safety management system platforms such as EHS Insight and Safety Source. 
  • Create and purchase safety communications material such as banners, posters, and safety manuals. Create and post content for the company’s safety platform - SafeTV. 
  • Advises the local fleet and facility safety personnel regarding incident reporting in EHS Insight, root cause analysis, safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of employees in accordance with Cal-OSHA regulations and Company policies and procedures 
  • Works with facilities to perform job hazard analyses (JHAs) and recommends mitigation procedures.
  • Conducts routine and follow-up safety and hazard inspections of GreenWaste facilities.
  • Analyzes accident and incident reports for trends; makes recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Robust, working knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA safety standards.
  • Computer skills using MS suite and specialized software for H&S programs.
  • Language skills – English and Spanish.  
  • Skill in performing safety inspections ensuring compliance with Cal-OSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports and training materials.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols.
  • Skill in performing safety inspections and ensuring compliance with OSHA safety standards.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, protocols, and/or procedures.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in occupational health and safety or related field preferred. 
  • Two to three years hands-on, supervisory experience in EHS or closely related field
  • Valid California Driver’s License

 

Language Skill:

 

  • Proficiency in English. Ability to communicate in Spanish is considered beneficial.

 

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to physically push, pull and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking and semi-frequent sitting

 

Work Environment

 

Typical work week is Monday through Friday. May be exposed to hazards or physical risks, which require basic safety precautions and knowledge. Outdoor work will present variations in temperature and environment. Ability to work in setting with frequent changes in equipment, start/end time based on the operational needs for the day and week. Anticipated to be 50% in the field and 50% in the office.
