General Functions:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the After School Arts Program Administer is responsible for working directly with the Syracuse City School District Program Liaison to manage the after-school arts program at Salem Hyde Elementary School. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing all YMCA After School Arts Program Arts and Enrichment Instructors, program curriculum and lesson plans for the site.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work directly with the Syracuse City School District Program Liaison to manage the after-school program at Salem Hyde.
- Hire and oversee all YMCA After School Arts Program Arts and Enrichment Instructors for Salem Hyde Elementary.
- Oversee Arts and Enrichment program curriculum and lesson plans.
- Collect and organize arts-related program data as requested by the Executive Director and/or the Syracuse City School District.
- Assist the Executive Director with program evaluation and final grant reports.
- Process payroll for all YMCA Arts and Enrichment Instructors at Salem Hyde.
- Purchase all necessary program supplies for Arts and Enrichment classrooms
- Oversee contract instructors from other agencies as needed.
- Communicating and collaborating with school administration and partner organizations.
- Ensuring that all Arts and Enrichment staff meet both YMCA and Syracuse City School District requirements.
- All other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
Requirements
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in an Arts or Education-related field.
- Experience working with programs serving school-age youth, either in an administrative or teaching capacity.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
- Demonstrates strong organization and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrates excellent planning and organizational skills, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective interpersonal and communications (oral and written) skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with Vendors, Directors and Staff of all levels.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Computer proficient with good time management skills.
Trainings & Certifications:
- Must complete the online Bloodborne Pathogens (re-certify yearly), Employee Safety and Youth Protection Series trainings prior to initial assignment to position.
- Must complete online Hazard Communication training within the first 90-days of employment.
- Must attend and complete Listen First training 90-days of employment.

Physical Demands:
Ability to frequently sit, use his/her hands and fingers, stand, typing, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, kneel and climb a minimum of two flights of stairs multiple times per day. Occasionally required to lift and/or carry and move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required close, color, distance, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior office work environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
