Role Overview:

Looking to join a team of smart-working, caring colleagues who are committed to deepening our people-centric culture?  Then Arch, a global public (NASDAQ: AGGL) S&P 500 company, is the right place for you.  This is a senior level HR position reporting directly to the President, Arch Capital Group in his leadership role over the Global Arch Reinsurance Group (Arch Re), with a matrixed reporting relationship to Arch’s Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).  In addition, the position is a member of both the Global Reinsurance Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the HR Leadership Team (HRLT). This position is a full-time role and requires 50-75% travel globally to Arch Re locations in the US, Bermuda, UK, Ireland, and Zurich.  Must be willing to relocate and work across multiple jurisdictions, including Bermuda. Valid passport and if applicable, transit visa (or willing to obtain).

As the Head of HR for Arch Re, you will be executing HR strategic priorities that align to the Arch Re Group’s business strategy to meet the needs of the people and the business.  Arch is in growth mode and this role will be key to partnering with the business to execute on the talent strategies across the company.  The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker who drives execution with proven impacts across the breadth of HR Business Partner Leadership capabilities.  Arch has a unique entrepreneurial culture that is collaborative, caring and hard working.  The new HR lead must be one of the culture carriers for the organization in their HR leadership position. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Advisor: Advise the executive/senior leadership teams across Arch Re. Infuse your insights and recommendations into organizational and management decisions, seamlessly aligning HR strategies and actions to drive performance and engagement.
  • HR Planning and Strategy: Create multi-year HR plans that align to our overall company, business and HR strategies.
  • HR Business Partnering: Support all the Arch Re employees and drive the execution of priorities, and annual HR processes including performance management, compensation, talent, and succession planning, etc.
  • People Management: Lead a HR team. Provide inspirational leadership, hold a high bar, align goals, give feedback, coaching, and development.
  • COE Partnerships: Create deep partnerships with the HR COEs in Compensation and Benefits, Talent Management, Diversity and Inclusion, Talent Acquisition, and People Operations to maximize impact.
  • Talent Management, Development and Succession Planning: Partner with Arch Re leaders to develop succession plans, identify and develop high potential employees and implement talent management strategies across the business.  
  • Analytics, Metrics, Reporting: Develop recommendations for reporting HR metrics, tracking pivotal indicators such as headcount, turnover and other efficiency gauges to inform decision-making.
  • Organizational Design and Change Management: Lead organizational design, development, and change management initiatives in Arch Re.
  • Recruiting - Oversee full-cycle recruitment functions for non-North America roles, including sourcing, screening, and assessing candidates. North America has a Talent Acquisition Shared Services organization that can be leveraged for support.
  • Bermuda Local Groups – participate in local groups like the Association for Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR) and Association for Bermuda International Companies (ABIC)
  • Partner with Bermuda Office Human Resources for Bermuda Based Arch Re Employees:
    • Payroll –outsourced to Expertise; Bermuda Office HR can assist with where to direct payroll questions for Arch Re.
    • Benefits – Partner with Arch’s global benefits team along with on-site support from the Bermuda Office HR team to ensure appropriate benefits support for Arch Re.
    • Immigration –Partner with Bermuda Office HR to ensure compliance with the legislation and policies from the Bermuda Department of Immigration for Arch Re.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive HR experience, including leading an HR team and partnering with C-suite leaders and senior leaders.
  • Breadth of strategic and broad HR Business Partner experience (e.g. Compensation Planning, Performance Management, Talent and Succession Planning).
  • Significant experience in driving and executing HR strategic plans across complex, highly matrixed organizations, connecting different visions and successfully leading the continual evolution of practices to build an organizational culture that aligns with corporate objectives.
  • Experience working in corporate companies in Financial Services, preferably in the Reinsurance/Insurance industry. 
  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Advanced oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience with an HCM suite (ideally Workday), leveraging data and analytics to drive planning and decision making. 
  • Proven ability to operate with discretion and effectively manage sensitive, confidential information.
  • Results-oriented, with proven ability to transform a corporate vision into tactical action and positive outcomes.
  • Strategic planning and change management expertise.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

For Morristown: $245,000 - $280,000/year

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
