Job Title: Library Clerk

Position Summary/Purpose: Assist in the daily operation of the school library/media center, under the immediate supervision of the media center director/specialist
Position Type: Full-Time
Starting Rate: $17.30/hr with a Paraprofessional license and higher with experience

Role and Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions:
Assist students in obtaining media center materials
Perform routine clerical tasks and record keeping
Monitor and control student behavior
Within the media center, receive, sign out, and reshelf materials
Collect materials as requested for class use
Interpret and apply oral and/or written instructions
Communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with students, colleagues, and supervisors
Perform other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position
Preferred Skills:
- Relate to students
- Organize materials and time
- Billingual (Spanish)
- Library experience
Qualifications and Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent
Working conditions / Environment:
Physical Demands: : walk, bend, twist at neck and trunk, squat, stoop, reach above head, reach forward, lift up to 25 pounds, pushing and pulling, visual acuity close/distance/depth perception, hearing to receive information, verbal to exchange information, sitting for prolonged periods of time
Environmental Conditions: indoor climate controlled setting, at times elevated noise level with large student group movement and talking
Examples of Equipment/Supplies Used to Perform Tasks: standard office equipment including photocopiers, computers, phone, printers, along with specialized library equipment examples including scanners and multi-media projectors.
